Experience helps nonprofits build organizational strength and achieve outcomes.
Sometimes a major funder will offer grants to enable nonprofits to “build capacity”: be able to do more of what they do well.
These funds are frequently used to expand the nonprofit's development efforts, as well as to build capacity through strategic planning, creating a business case or determining methods of increasing earned revenue. The outcome of a fundraising-oriented capacity building study is similar to a development assessment, but frequently more ambitious. It describes operational changes needed to take fundraising to a level consistent with a larger organization.
EMD has helped clients successfully apply for capacity-building grants for fundraising.
