Development Assessments

A fundraising assessment describes a nonprofit's existing development efforts and diagnoses what resources are needed to improve its fundraising.

For example, assessments consider ...

• The effectiveness of separate parts of the fundraising program
• The number, duties and skills of employees in the development area and other staff who help with development
• The board’s fundraising effectiveness
• The organization's fundraising culture
• Development-dedicated information systems
• Donors' history of giving and donorship patterns

During the assessment process, EMD works with clients to match likely funders with funding needs,  determine what strategies are needed to build on fundraising strengths and take advantage of  opportunities, describe what skills need to be honed and technology implemented. The assessment provides a credible, objective view of a nonprofit's development needs.
